Personalize your mental health treatment plan!

Silver Lining Behavioral Health providers use genetic testing to create a personalized mental health treatment plan for you based on how specific genes affect the body’s response to medication. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes impact an individual’s response to medications, combining pharmacology and genomics to develop personalized treatment options. This is especially valuable in psychiatry, where not every medication is effective for every individual. Traditionally, medication effectiveness was determined through trial and error, but pharmacogenomics offers a new, more personalized approach. This new movement towards personalized medicine aims to customize healthcare for each individual, including the selection of medication based on genetic makeup.

Schedule an appointment for a consultation to help you understand the role of the genetic testing in psychiatry, is advantages and limitations.

Tell Me More about Pharmacogenomic Testing

Pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing provides information on how your genes may affect how your body responds to certain medications. Your doctor can then use this information to help create a treatment plan based on your unique DNA. PGx testing can help your doctor determine how your body may metabolize certain medications and how you may experience certain side effects from certain medications. This information can be used as a factor to help your doctor decide which medication to use and at what dose this medication should be prescribed. PGx testing can be used in several areas of medicine, such as oncology, gastroenterology, and psychiatry. In psychiatry, PGx testing can be used to inform the treatment plan for patients experiencing depression, ADHD, drug addictions, and other behavioral health conditions.

How do I Provide my Sample for Testing?

The Tempus genetic test sample can be provided in one of two ways:

  1. A sample for the genetic test is collected in your care provider’s office.
  2. A collection kit for the genetic test is sent to your home. If a collection kit is sent to your home, you will receive detailed instructions within the kit on how to correctly provide your cheek swab sample.

Our providers can be available to answer any questions you may have about the sample collection and testing process.
